Onion Lake people have a right to know what is achieved through the use of Federal and Provincial and Band funding dollars and to hold the Onion Lake Chief and Council accountable. The key to accountability is transparency that is attained from the business and operations plans for program and service delivery.
The Onion Lake Administration, which includes ominimowew mamowicitasowin (Native Justic Inc.) is working towards improving the quality of life for the people of Onion Lake. Thus the ominimowew mamowicitasowin (Native Justice Inc.) recognizes that it cannot succeed alone; rather it must begin and continue to work cooperatively and in partnership with internal and external government agencies and organizations that would facilitate the proposed program outcomes and results in order to provide a better quality of life for the people of Onion Lake.
Development of Indigenous Laws Indigenous laws need to be developed and implemented and continually updated to ensure the protection and preservation of our indigenous rights and tradtions.
- A comprehensive and proactive approach will be taken to develop an implement laws pertaining our indigenous way of life and customs.
- Community participations approach will streamline on how the gathering of information will be obtained and distributed
- Focus groups and cree gathering will continue to provide the necessary information that would be vital to enhance to project research proces.
The ominimowew mamowicitasowin (Native Justice Inc.) and the Board aproved five (5) goals that are a high priority in the developing of the business Plan for 2010-2015
Goal 1: To conduct a comprehensive research study to restore our laws and resources as pertaining to the indigeous laws of the land:
Goal 2: To develop and impliment an integrated Mediation process that would enhance the quality of servies in resolving internal matters.
Goal 3: To seek suport and construct a Public Safety Facility to accommodate existing and proposed programs;
Goal 4; To develop and establish a networking process with internal and external agencies;
Goal 5: To develop and implement a legal services program to facility the legal needs for internal government agencies and the Indigenous people.
