Chase The Ace | Jackpot Update #24

Okimâw Pete Chief Leadership Briefing – Active Claims
Leadership continues to work toward protecting Onion Lake’s Treaty rights and advancing discussions regarding active claims connected to Treaty obligations and historical commitments.
In this briefing, Okimâw Pete Chief provides an update on where current processes stand regarding Treaty-related matters including Haylands, Treaty agricultural benefits, and Treaty annuity discussions. The update also addresses ongoing negotiations with the Crown, the importance of careful decision-making, and why leadership remains focused on protecting the interests of both present and future generations.
Leadership emphasized that no agreements have been finalized and that community members will continue to receive updates as discussions progress. Members are also reminded to rely on official communications and not misinformation or rumors regarding settlements.
As leadership moves forward in these discussions, the priority remains protecting Treaty rights, respecting the vision of our ancestors, and making decisions that support future generations of Onion Lake.
