Strategic Priorities

Onion Lake Cree nation has invested over 38 million dollars in strategic priorities for the well being of the community. We have identified several projects of strategic importance. The following is a summary of these projects. The following projects are in various stages of development and completion.
 

Onion Lake Water Distribution System
Project Cost; $15,000,000
This project is very important to the community; it involves the design of a water distribution system to provide piped potable water to homes located in the rural area of the community. Pipelines to supply water to the rural areas will be connected to the existing municipal pipelines.
We are happy to report that the design work is 100% complete and is out for pricing by Beretta Pipeline Construction.
 

Onion Lake Elevated Reservoir
Project Cost; $4,135,000
The project involves the construction of an elevated reservoir and pipelines on the hilltop above the Chief Taylor area. This reservoir provides water storage and fire fighting capacity for the Chief Taylor corridor and village area. It will also provide pressure for the upcoming water distribution project.
We are pleased to inform you that this project is 99% complete with final close out documentation remaining.
 

Naspatinahk Subdivision
Project Cost; $8.900.000
This project involves the design of 335 lots and major infrastructure components including a sewage pumping station, sewage forcemain and sewage lagoon. Water will be provided from the elevated reservoir.
The project has been tendered and is under construction. The project has been awarded to Beretta Construction, (subdivision). And BMTR Ventures for the lagoon and forcemain while Rictchie Construction has been successful in the sewage pumping station and elevated reservoir pumping.
 

West T Subdivision
Project Cost, $995,000
This project involves water and sewer services to 20 lots near the RCMP detachment. The project provides services to the housing development along with power and natural gas connections. This project is 99% complete.

Onion Lake Sewage Pumping Station Upgrades
Project Cost; $1,350,000
The project involves upgrades to the four sewage pumping stations in the community. The upgrades vary at each of the stations located near CT school, below the RCMP, RC development area and Eagleview High School.
This project is 95% complete.
 

Ekweeskeet Road Phase I
Project Cost; $6.000, 000
The design work is completed and the project has been awarded to Beretta Pipeline Construction and Whitford Construction. Initial clearing has taken place; utility moves are in progress and gravel crushing has commenced.
 

Chief Taylor School Roof Replacement
Project Cost; $2.350,000
The project involves the replacing of the roof on the Chief taylor School and soffit repairs to the Eagleview School.
